Setting the standard for professional roofing in New Zealand.
The Roofing Association of New Zealand (RANZ) is the national trade organisation representing professional roofing contractors and the wider roofing industry across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Established as an Incorporated Society in 1994, RANZ exists to lift the standard of roofing by supporting quality workmanship, strong training pathways, and professional business practices. We act as a collective voice for the industry, advocating on behalf of members across regulation, compliance, health and safety, and workforce development.
Our mission is simple: to deliver a high-performing roofing industry that protects New Zealand’s most important assets.
We work closely with government agencies, regulators, training bodies, manufacturers, and industry partners to help ensure roofing work in New Zealand is safe, compliant, and carried out by skilled and qualified professionals. Through this work, RANZ plays an active role in shaping legislation, standards, and industry guidance that directly affects roofing businesses and the built environment.
Supporting training and education is a cornerstone of our purpose. RANZ has played a leading role in the development of formal roofing qualifications and apprenticeship pathways registered on the NZQA framework.
Today, RANZ represents more than 350 member businesses operating nationwide across residential, commercial, and industrial roofing. Together, they employ thousands of roofing installers and applicators and represent the majority of specialist professional roofing companies in New Zealand.
At its core, RANZ is about professionalism, accountability, and pride in the trade. By supporting our members and advocating for best practice, we help build trust in the roofing industry and contribute to better outcomes for businesses, workers, and building owners alike.
